Flyings for the Birds Parrot Rescue is offering bird lovers the chance to sponsor a parrot by making a $25 donation to cover the cost of food and care of a Parrot for one month. Take a look at our photo albums and choose a Parrot Or you can just let us choose a Parrot for you. We have macaws, amazons, african greys , love birds, cockatiels, conures and many other types of birds. They all need care, love and food. Local Sponsors can make an appointment to visit “their” parrot at the rescue. All sponsors will receive a photograph of their parrot and certificate of sponsorship. When making your sponsorship donation through PayPal (link at top of page), please indicate which parrot you would like to sponsor, or if you would like us select one for you. Why We Exist
- Flyings for the Birds Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary
- Our one and only purpose is that of a rescue/rehab organization. With millions of baby parrots and Exotic birds being produced by the pet trade each year, the population of captive birds continues to grow. As peoples' interests fade and the birds AND the people get older, the overpopulation of parrots is destined to become a heartbreaking tragedy. This is now the case with cats and dogs where four to five MILLION are euthanized every year. With their long life spans, parrots have a built-in homeless factor because every long-lived parrot will outlive his or her original guardian, and even the smaller birds with life spans of 40 ¯ 90 years will face the eventual aging problems of their human caretakers. There are many reasons that a parrot will lose his or her home during their lifetime including health problems of the parrot's guardians, downsizing, caring for someone in the family, a new baby, a move and many others.
- We choose to recycle these lives and give them an opportunity to live. We need your help and support to continue the work we are doing. Since parrots are not a native species to the United States, there are NO opportunities for government assistance or grants like other pet rescues can receive.
